Whereas the hanging glacier is assumed as Dablam, a traditional double-pendant containing pictures of the gods, worn by Sherpa women. Rising 6,812 meters above from the sea level, Mt. Ama Dablam is one of the most challenging peaks to scale regardless of its low elevation.

Ama Dablam Climbing Route

We have designed our Ama Dablam Climbing route including enough acclimatization days in between the climbing period. Ama Dablam Expedition begins with following the classic Everest Base Camp trekking trail. From Lukla, you will head to Namche Bazar and move towards Tengboche then to Lobuche. The trail then takes you to EBC and Kala Patthar. Further, you will descend Dingboche and move towards Ama Dablam Base Camp.

Our experienced expedition crew will accompany us to the top of Mt. Ama Dablam. They will carry food, logistics, and other climbing necessities. From the southwest ridge, the climbing gets more challenging until Camp 1 (5,800 m) as the trail will be full of boulder fields, cairns, slabs, and gullies. Further,  following the east side of the ridge, you will walk on a narrow crest and ascend to the west side of the ridge.

You will then pass another challenging section and reach Camp II (6,075 m). Continuing ascending to the east, you will pass by gully between the Grey Tower and other rocky structures and reach Camp III (6,400 m). From here onwards, you will push to the southwest ridge of the summit crossing numerous deep crevasses.

Best Time to Summit Mt. Ama Dablam

Spring (April to May) and Autumn (September to October) is the best time for Mt. Ama Dablam summit. During this time of the year, weather is more preferable and clam. Similarly, views are also at its best. However, the weather can change anytime at high altitude. You cannot predict it.  Therefore, we have kept enough climbing days to summit Mt. Ama Dablam.

Ama Dablam Climbing Difficulty

Regardless of its height, Mt. Ama Dablam is known as one of the strenuous peaks to climb. The trail includes several technical climbing. Similarly, the high altitude with thin air and low oxygen level make the ascent more difficult.

High altitude journeys also bring a high chance of altitude sickness with itself. Therefore, make sure to acclimatize properly before moving to a higher elevation. Drink plenty of water and keep yourself hydrated. Avoid alcoholic drinks and inform your guide in case if you feel uncomfortable. To do Ama Dablam Expedition you have to be physically fit and in good health. Prior trekking experience is needed before the commencement of the journey. Also, do jogging and other exercises to increase your stamina and muscles power.
