Autumn (September-October-November)
Autumn season is considered as the best trekking in Nepal and peak climbing in Nepal. September, October, and November fall in this time of the year. Autumn offers excellent weather, tantalizing landscape views, and clear panoramic view of the Himalayan range. It is also the festive season in Nepal. Temperature is moderate, making it a great time to do any trekking in Nepal. The sky is generally clear with excellent views. Occasionally short storms may dump considerable snow at high altitudes.
Winter (December-January-February)
Generally, the days are clear in the winter season in Nepal. December, January, and February have cold days in the mountains. In the winter season, the high altitude gets heavy snowfall with risks of strong winds and extremely cold temperature in the night. The trail has relatively fewer trekkers.
If you are looking for a suitable journey along with incredible scenery, winter is a great time to trek in lower elevations. However, you need to be selective in choosing the winter trekking, climbing and crossing high passes trip won’t be an ideal option. Treks like Everest Base Camp Treks, Langtang Valley Trekking, Mardi Himal Trek, Pikey Peak Trek, etc can be done even in winter.
Spring (March-April-May)
Spring season in Nepal is another most popular and the best season to do the trekking and mountain climbing expeditions. This season offers different varieties of wild flora blossoming including several species of rhododendrons above 3,000 m. It is mildly warm at lower elevations and quite a moderate temperature at higher elevation over 4,000 m, which provides spectacular mountains view.
Summer/Monsoon (June-July-August)
June, July and August is monsoon season in Nepal and involves heavy rainfall, which makes trekking conditions unfavorable. The summer season makes travel wet and warm. These times are blessed for the keen botanist, as the higher valleys and meadows blossom with flowers and lush vegetation. Summer trekking offers the added advantage of enjoying trails and villages when there are few trekkers. You can enjoy the solitude and beauty of the mountains without any crowds.
You can do most of the Nepal treks like Everest Trek, Annapurna trek, Langtang trek or Manaslu trek any time, whereas Upper Mustang and Dolpo trek is good even in summer as it won’t rain much there. This season is the ideal time for trekking and tour to Tibet. Some trekking regions of Nepal connects with Tibet and also presents a high influence of Tibetan culture, tradition, lifestyle, language, and assortments. Regions like Upper Mustang, Nar-Phu valley, and Dolpo is the best option to do trekking in this time of the year because the entire region receives little to almost no rain as it falls under the Himalayas rain shadow area.
