Everest Base Camp Trek is the classic trek of Everest region. It is also one of the most famous treks in the Everest region. Where is Everest Base Camp ?

Everest Base Camp is suited in the Khumbu region of Nepal at 5,364 meters south of the Kathmandu Valley. The region also includes Sagarmatha National Park that is home to numerous wildlife. Fly in the south to Lukla and trek to Namche Bazar in the north. From here, trekking in the north-east, reach Gorak Shep. The trail then takes to EBC slightly in the east and Kala Patthar viewpoint in the west.

Best Time to go on the Everest Base Camp Trek

The best time to go on the Everest Base Camp Trek is from March-May and September-December. The weather is generally clear and presents the best views of the region in these months.

Whereas during the Monsoon (June to mid-September) the region gets foggy and receives rainfall that makes the trail slippery and views unclear. Similarly, in winter, the region receives heavy snowfall making the climate extremely cold and harsh.

You will stay in 2 or 3 stars hotel in Kathmandu and in the guest house during the Everest Base Camp Trek. You will only get breakfast in Kathmandu. There will also be welcome and farewell dinner in Kathmandu. While on the trek the food will be served according to the menu of the lodges. There is a good lodge on the trek to Everest Base Camp. Food plays a vital role in learning the culture of the region as well as nourishing you for the long days spent trekking through the mountainous region. Common food like Dal Bhat and other dishes mentioned on the menu are also available. Similarly, drinking water is easily available everywhere. You can carry reusable water bottle and water purification tablets to double check the quality of waters.

Is Everest Base Camp Trek difficult?

Everest Base Camp Trek is a moderate journey yet few parts of the trail might get challenging. You don't need to have prior trekking experience to do this trek. However, every day you have to trek for around 6 to 7 hours, which does require good physical fitness, determination, and ample stamina.
